A Year Of Support

When Wolferstans Solicitors named Hearts Together as their Charity of the Year for 2025, they made a promise that went well beyond traditional corporate social responsibility. Over the course of the year, the firm has shown what it truly means to champion a cause - combining energetic fundraising with practical, skills-based support that will make a lasting difference to the community Hearts Together serves.

The result? A total of £8,000 raised for Hearts Together, alongside training, volunteering and community action that has touched every corner of the charity's work.

Wolferstans colleagues threw themselves into the challenge with remarkable energy, taking part in a full calendar of events throughout the year:

  1. Plympton Rotary Collection

  1. Tamar 10k

  1. Torbay 10k

  1. Plymouth Marathon, 10k and 5k

  1. Marathon Sweepstake

  1. Quiz Night and Fundraiser

  1. Mental Health First Aid Training for Hearts Together staff

  1. Christmas Stockings Appeal

Keen runner and Wolferstans Paralegal and Trainee CILEX Student, James Roberts captured the spirit of the year after completing the Torbay 10k:

"I had an amazing morning at the Torbay 10K — windy weather, stunning views, and a new personal best to top it all off! Even better, we were able to raise more funds for our fantastic Charity of the Year: Hearts Together. A huge thank you to everyone who's donated so far — your support means the world."

Mental Health First Aid Training for Hearts Together Staff

What sets the Wolferstans partnership apart is the depth of their commitment. David Price, Head of Talent & CX at Wolferstans, recently qualified as a Mental Health First Aid trainer and delivered accredited training to all Hearts Together staff, equipping the team with vital skills to recognise and respond to mental health challenges.

For a charity whose guests are often navigating some of the most emotionally demanding moments of their lives - waiting for news, supporting a loved one through serious illness, far from home - this investment in people is immeasurable.

David Price, Head of Talent & CX at Wolferstans Solicitors, said:

"At Wolferstans, we believe in the power of giving back. We are proud to support local charities through dedicated partnerships that offer both financial and practical support. For us, supporting charities goes beyond financial contributions — it's about giving our time, sharing our expertise, and creating a lasting impact. We believe that by equipping teams with vital skills, we are helping to build resilience and wellbeing that reaches beyond the training room."

The Christmas Appeal!

As Christmas approached, Wolferstans colleagues took part in Hearts Together's Christmas Stockings appeal — a deeply personal act of community care. Colleagues assemble gift packs to be given directly to an adult or child spending Christmas at the charity's hospital hotel near Derriford Hospital.

Filled with thoughtful items from cosy socks and travel toiletries to puzzle books, festive treats, and small toys for children, each stocking was a reminder that no one staying at Hearts Together would feel forgotten over the festive season.

Every pound raised by Wolferstans has helped Hearts Together keep its doors open, providing accommodation, transport, counselling, and peer support for patients, carers, and relatives travelling to Plymouth to receive medical treatment or urgent care.

Angela Gatcum, CEO of Hearts Together, said:

"We are thrilled to have been partnering with Wolferstans as their Charity of the Year. Their support has already made a significant impact — but what has been even more inspiring is the depth of their commitment. The mental health training delivered to our staff will have a lasting and transformational effect on how we support our guests, many of whom are navigating extremely emotional and traumatic situations. We are so grateful to everyone at Wolferstans for their energy, generosity, and genuine care."
